What started out as a beautiful week of fishing turned very ugly late Thursday on Sam Rayburn Reservoir. With the first day of the event starting on Saturday and bad weather expected on Sunday Arthur Seals and Kermit Dow recorded a solid 5 fish limit on Saturday with 15.69 pounds to capture the QUAD State Bass Tournament. During their practice round on Thursday they narrowed down the spots they would fish but due to the wind gust of around 15 – 25 MPH on Saturday they could not fish those areas. “We caught very good fish on Thursday” said Arthur Seals but Saturday’s winds posed different conditions. However, Seals and Dow fished in the general area out of the wind and were able to locate a solid 5 fish limit. The second day of the tournament was canceled due to thunderstorms, high winds, and tornado warnings. Fishing in total different areas of the lake and not to be out done the team of Raymond Hicks and son Che’ Hicks had a 5 fish limit of 13.83 pounds to claim second place. They had a very good practice round on Thursday as well with Raymond bagging a nice beast.
There were 39 teams in the event with 8 from the DBH Club. Together the eight teams won the overall team award which has been won on a number of occasions and it’s back in Dallas where it belongs. Thanks to all teams helped reclaim the club title.
